Our friend Kirk Demarais, author of such fine books as Mail-Order Mysteries: Real Stuff from Old Comic Book Ads! and Life of the Party, recently paid a visit to Archie McPhee HQ in Mukilteo, WA, where a great time was had by all.
Kirk spent the day exploring our vast archive of toy and novelty treasures, participating in creative meetings, and just generally nerding out with us about all sorts of wonderful weirdness.

Boing Boing just unveiled their Happy Mutant Mobile, a fantastically modified 2014 Ford Transit Connect Wagon. That's right, Boing Boing is hitting the road and they're taking all sorts of wonderful weirdness with them.
The vehicle was modified by Theresa Contreras and her team at San Dimas, CA-based L&G Enterprises. The interior features a library containing all sorts of sensational reading materials provided by Fantagraphics Books and Last Gasp. The rear doors open to reveal an honest to goodness Cabinet of Curiosities. Archie McPhee was delighted to contribute a treasure trove of oddities and curiosities for this awesome feature.
The Happy Mutant Mobile is an awesome mobile library, wunderkammer and blogging/video studio perfect for on-the-road interviews. Bon voyage friends!Boing Boing]
We love spotting our products in the wild and there's something particularly cool about seeing depictions of them in people's artwork. So we were delighted to spot one of our Deluxe Finger Monsters in this wonderful painting by Midwestern artist Ken Keirns:
Entitled Social Network, it was part of a solo exhibition of Keirns' artwork, “Deja Vu, Selected works from Ken Keirns”, which recently took place at the Madelife gallery in Boulder, CO.
Hooray, January 21st is Squirrel Appreciation Day!
So let's all put on our Squirrel Masks:
And celebrate this very special day with a squirrel-sized cup of coffee:
Treat your squirrel friends to a nice meal (they have no idea how silly they'll look):
And please give those embarrassingly naked squirrels some underpants so we can stop shielding our eyes at the park:
