Scott's son has a temporary Poe toe! That little piggy is Edgar Allan Toe.
One of the highlights of the Halloween season is the entire Archie McPhee store staff dressing up in different costumes for an entire week leading up to (and including) Halloween itself. There have been many truly great costumes over the years. (You can peruse a few years' worth via the store's Flickr account: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and of course this year: 2012)
Halloween 2012 is still a few days away, but we've already seen a costume that is sure to go down in Archie McPhee history as one of the best. It's as hilarious as it is frightening. Behold the wonder that is Dan'l dressed up as Slicey the Pig Dashboard Wiggler, the only pig who is so eager for you to taste how delicious he is, he's already carving himself up for you:
We've even got video of Dan'l standing in the street in front of the store, merrily slicing away at himself for passing cars:
Many customers were creeped out and children terrified, so as far as we're concerned, mission accomplished. Happy Halloween! Who wants some bacon?
This video should be a treat for anyone who is curious about how our products come into existence, from initial inspiration to idea to final product. In this case, the final product is the Dashboard monster. It's a great peek inside the creative heart of Archie McPhee:
You will be forgiven if your first thought when you read the headline was that Archie McPhee was going to start making glasses for monkeys, it totally sounds like something we would do. But in this case, Monkey Goggles refers to a website.
Think of it as a literary magazine whose sole sponsor is Archie McPhee. It's going to be articles about things we love, great stories, humor, news and an occasional editorial opinion. We launched it on Monday, but haven't really announced it anywhere to give us a chance to get our sea legs.
Right now, we're still figuring out what belongs and what doesn't, but here are a few highlights:
If you're ever in Seattle, you have to stop by our store. Not just for the amazing products and great customer service, but also for the staff tattoos. Below you'll find the first bunch of them.
Pete is a serious werewolf afficianado and this tattoo of a wolfman hand coming out through his skin is visible evidence.
Molly's dragon is gorgeous, look at the shading on those clouds.
Jeff's good and evil hot dog tattoos guide his life. Often, he'll check with the hot dogs before making a choice.
Here is Shana’s lucky anchor and a cascade of flowers
And, we had to end with Jeff's classic video game "game over" knuckle tattoos. It's the last thing you'll see before he knocks you unconscious, if that's what the evil hot dog tells him to do!
